Dr. Ward currently serves as the Division Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, in addition to providing sub-specialty coverage for National Diagnostic Imaging. His duties at Tufts include the role of Assistant Professor of Radiology and Orthopedics at Tufts University School of Medicine. Concurrently he serves as a visiting professor of radiology at Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Ward's strong academic background is complemented by clinical expertise focusing on musculoskeletal imaging. He has worked with world class athletes including collegiate athletes and professional soccer and hockey players. Furthermore, he is highly experienced in the area of foot and ankle MRI and serves both the academic orthopedic as well as the local podiatric communities. His research interests include sports medicine, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis.
Following the completion of a radiology residency at Boston University, in musculoskeletal imaging at Wake Forest University, Dr. Ward pursued a musculoskeletal imaging fellowship at Wake Forest University. He is widely published in numerous medical journals as well as having written multiple book chapters, accepted speaking invitations, and authoring a textbook. He is currently the executive editor of a comprehensive radiology book series. Dr. Ward is currently a member on the ACR Appropriateness Criteria® Expert Panel on Musculoskeletal Imaging. He is an an active member of the Society of Skeletal Radiology and Radiologic Society of North America. Dr. Ward is a member of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry and is a certified clinical densitometrist.
Having been raised in the New York metropolitan area, Dr. Ward is an avid New York sports fan and actively roots against Boston sports teams notably the Red Sox.
